Production of drinking water from sea water with the use of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes

Description

Sea water treatment system by reverse osmosis technology to produce ultra pure water "AKRO-E "

Introduction

The “AKRO-P” system produces ultra pure water from sea water, free of microbes, bacteria and viruses.reverse osmosis unit The procedure is completed in three stages. In the first stage sea water is filtered in order to remove sea water microorganisms, sand, small rocks and other contaminants. In the second stage sea water is passed under high pressure from the reverse osmosis unit.

As the water passes through the membranes monovalent and multivalent ions, viruses, bacteria and suspended solids are rejected. The products of the reverse osmosis filtration are two: The water free of contaminants and residue where all the previous mentioned contaminants are concentrated.  In the last stage, water is passed through special filters in order to be enriched with magnesium and calcium ions. The presence of magnesium and calcium ions in water is responsible for the taste and odor of the fresh water.

The “AKRO-P” is a friendly, automatic system and requires minimum maintenance. The procedure is completed into seven stages

1. PRE-TREATMENT.

reverse osmosis unit

  1. Feeding of fresh chlorinated sea water
  2. Measurement and control of sea water pH.
  3. Control of residual chlorine
  4. Feeding of coagulant
  5. Feeding of anti-chlorination chemicals.
  6. Filtration of sea water in sand filters
  7. Filtration in active carbon filters
  8. Filtration in filter with cartridges
  9. Temperature measurement
